What happened Tuesday at Halas Hall:

Jackson getting better

Guard Jonah Jackson, who has injuries to his hip and quad, was upgraded to limited in the estimated injury report Tuesday. The Bears held a walk-through but filed a report detailing who would have been able to participate in a standard practice.

If Jackson can’t play, the Bears will turn to Luke Newman, who replaced him Sunday.

Running back Kyle Monangai remains out and is unlikely to play Thursday. Linebackers T.J. Edwards (hamstring) and Jack Sanborn (concussion) wouldn’t have practiced.

The Bears will reunite with one of their best players from last season Thursday. They chose to sign safety Coby Bryant instead of re-signing Kevin Byard, who led the NFL with seven interceptions and was named a first-team All-Pro last season. He landed with the Patriots and coach Mike Vrabel, his old boss with the Titans.

‘‘I’m looking forward to going up against him,’’ wide receiver Rome Odunze said. ‘‘And hopefully after the game, after the win, I’ll say my hellos.’’

Patriots guards likely out

Vrabel said he doesn’t expect guards Ben Brown (knee) or Alijah Vera-Tucker to play Thursday. He said a third starting offensive lineman, tackle Morgan Moses, has a chance to come back from a foot injury in time.
